 | ABOUT US | | | History Dunlop Foams is a subsidiary of Pacific Brands Limited (established in 1888), an Australian Public company (www.pacificbrands.com.au). Like all members of the Dunlop family of companies, its origins go back to John Boyd Dunlop (1840-1921), the inventor of the rubber pneumatic tyre. The introduction of upholstery foam in Australia goes back to the early 1930s when the Dunlop Perdriau Rubber Company started producing Dunlopillo rubber latex foam. Dunlop Foams commenced manufacture of prepolymer-based polyurethane foams in Australia and New Zealand in the 1960s, and has always been at the forefront of this technology and product innovation. Today, Dunlop Foams is Australia’s largest polyurethane flexible slabstock foam producer and the only organisation in the industry with a presence in every State. | PACIFIC BRANDS | | DUNLOP FOAMS | | The Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Company | 1893 | | | The Dunlop Rubber Company of Australia | 1905 | | | The Dunlop Perdriau Rubber Company | 1929 | | | | 1930s | Latex upholstery foam first manufactured by Dunlop in Australia | | Dunlop Rubber Australia | 1941 | | | | 1950s | Flexible Polyurethane Foam produced for upholstery | | | 1960s | Flexible Polyurethane Foam produced for bedding | | | 1970s | First Maxfoam continuous foaming machine installed | | Dunlop Olympic Limited | 1980 | | | | 1980s | Business expanded across Australia & NZ through acquisitions of the Olympic Group, Foamlite, R.T.Carr (NZ) and Joubert & Joubert EnduroTM developed and introduced | | Pacific Dunlop Limited | 1986 | | | | 1990s | Ozone-depleting CFCs eliminated ahead of legislation MarathonTM, StaminaTM, LuxuraTM, Ultra-Fresh®, round block introduced Acquisitions of Servitor (NZ), Vita Pacific | | | 1999 | Dunlop Asthma Partnership established | | Pacific Brands Pty Ltd | 2001 | | | | 2002 | OpulenceTM launched | | | 2003 | Name and logo changed to | | Pacific Brands Limited | 2004 | ViscoflexTM introduced | | | 2006 | ViscoLuxTM re-launched | |
